BLACK ACCESS NETWORK
WHY BAN?
Studies show 3 in 4 job vacant jobs are ultimately filled through networking and connections. As Black individuals looking for jobs in white dominated fields, numerous disparities have resulted in the Black community making up a very small fraction of that 75%. The disparities we face encompass a lack of accessible and affordable resources needed to build a professional image such as professional headshots and systemic barriers such as racial bias in the hiring process and in the workplace.
A study done in 2019 reported supports this as white individuals in Canada are 165% more likely to receive a call back from a job in comparison to Black individuals in Canada with similar qualifications.
Mission
The Black Access Network (BAN) seeks to empower the next generation of Black leaders by providing career advancement and comprehensive resources and connecting them with partnering organizations for personal and professional development.
Vision
Our vision is to create a future where Black professionals are equipped to overcome employment barriers and Black youth are empowered through education and economic opportunities, advancing the next generation of Black leaders.
